What: UMass Lowell will announce its plans for the new location of its Haverhill satellite campus, including academic programs and a new initiative that will promote economic development in the city.

The university, which has been operating its Haverhill campus on an interim basis at Northern Essex Community College, will open its permanent site at the new Harbor Place for the fall 2017 semester. Located in the heart of the city, the newly constructed multi-tenant building will provide room for UMass Lowell’s expansion of undergraduate offerings in Haverhill, as well as the introduction of new programs serving individuals and businesses.

Speakers are scheduled to include UMass Lowell Chancellor Jacqueline Moloney and state Rep. Brian Dempsey of Haverhill, who is a UMass Lowell alumnus. Also scheduled to attend are Haverhill Mayor James Fiorentini and representatives of the developer of Harbor Place, the Greater Haverhill Foundation and UMass Lowell’s Division of Online and Continuing Education.

Where: Harbor Place lobby, 2 Merrimack St., Haverhill
