What:  UMass Lowell’s Fall Career Fair will bring 200 employers together with 1,500 students looking for jobs after graduation or to build on their academic studies through professional internships and co-ops.

The UMass Lowell Career Services and Cooperative Education Center prepares students to enter the professional world with skills and confidence. Many recruiters who work for companies such as Draper Laboratory, Kronos Inc. and Putnam Investments are UMass Lowell alumni who return to campus to hire students and graduates because they know the quality of a UMass Lowell education. A survey of UMass Lowell’s bachelor’s degree recipients found that less than a year after graduating, 95 percent were either employed full time or pursuing an advanced degree. NOTE: The public may not attend but the media is invited to cover this event.

Interviews will be provided by UMass Lowell career counselors, alumni back as recruiters and students seeking jobs, including:

  • Steffan Jackson, a business administration major from Stoughton who is searching for a full-time job in technology sales after he graduates in May. Last year, an internship with Versatile Communications in supply-chain logistics helped him find his career path.
  • Olivia Phillips, a computer engineering major from Lexington looking for an internship to help her prepare for a career as a hardware engineer advancing the U.S. and Japanese technology industries. She participates in UMass Lowell’s ProPath Program, through which the university’s career counselors work with students beginning in their freshmen year to help identify career goals and gain job experience before they graduate.
  • Zachary Traverso, a mechanical engineering major from Townsend who wants to land a co-op or internship to gain professional experience in his field of choice before graduation. A UMass Lowell Honors College student, Traverso also participates in ProPath, through which he has received training in resume-writing, interviewing and job-search strategies.
