Industry, Academia and Government Representatives to Gather at Two-Day Event

The Biomanufacturing Science and Technology Consortium (BSTC), Massachusetts BioManufacturing Center (MBMC) at UMass Lowell and the University of Massachusetts are hosting the 5th Annual Biomanufacturing Summit at the UMass Lowell Inn & Conference Center. The summit, set for Monday, May 23 and Tuesday, May 24 features presentations and discussion on where the field is heading.
Biomanufacturing Summit 2016 will mark the 5th annual event of the BSTC. As in previous years, it is expected that summit participants will include scientists and engineers from academia, government and industry. Industry participants will include biopharmaceutical manufacturers, technology and system providers, raw material suppliers and agencies in the areas of development, manufacturing and engineering.
The summit offers a unique opportunity to interact with professionals and leaders of the biopharmaceutical industry about current biomanufacturing challenges and to learn about breakthrough technologies. Twenty-four speakers from industry, government and academia will deliver presentations on the changing landscape of biomanufacturing. This year’s plenary speakers are Tim Charlebois, Ph.D., vice president of technology innovation at Pfizer, and Larry Lee, Ph.D., acting director of the Food and Drug Administration and Center for Drug Evaluation and Research’s Office of Pharmaceutical Quality.
The summit will also offer the opportunity to network with professionals from major biopharmaceutical manufacturers and a variety of technology providers such as Biogen Idec, Genzyme, Pfizer, Momenta, Millipore, BMS, GE, SAFC and many more.
Training sessions are also offered on May 18-20 and May 25-27 for interested participants to learn how to implement cutting edge design, quality, and advanced analytical concepts. Concepts to be covered include “Integrated Continuous Biomanufacturing,” “Quality-by-Design (QbD) Risk Assessment and Design Space,” and “Process Analytical Technology (PAT) and QbD Principles in Biopharmaceuticals.”
