What:          A unique mix of musicians and dancers will come together for “Dancing in Concert: East Meets West,” a free performance open to the public. Featured performers include the Angkor Dance Troupe, members of the New England Orchestra, the Lowell Youth Orchestra and faculty from the University of Massachusetts Lowell and Middlesex Community College. Central to the performance is the music of award-winning, Cambodian-born composer Chinary Ung. Kay George Roberts, a professor in UMass Lowell’s Department of Music, will conduct. Roberts is the founder and director of the Lowell Youth Orchestra and the New England Orchestra, Lowell’s only professional chamber music orchestra. The evening will also feature solo performances by renowned musicians Mark Berger on violin and Carmen Rodriguez-Peralta on piano.
