Video Scoreboard, Pavilion Club, Luxury Seats, Concessions Among Changes
Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2010
5 to 7 p.m.
WHAT: The new look of the interior of the Tsongas Center at UMass Lowell will be unveiled at a special event for season-ticket holders and guests. More than 200 visitors are expected to attend, getting the first look at the venue’s new video scoreboard, premium seating, concessions and more.
The newly renovated Tsongas Center also features the new Lowell Cooperative Bank Pavilion, a 4,800-square-foot club room with more than 300 seats, wait staff for all events, high-definition plasma TVs and more amenities. A wide variety of new concessions with a focus on freshly made food and locally known brands will be available for all fans.
Combined with other changes ߝ including a new sound system featuring 60 speakers, the addition of 400-foot-long LED “ribbon” boards, and new exterior and interior signs ߝ the Tsongas Center is a dramatically different experience for fans of all kinds than it was as the Tsongas Arena. UMass Lowell acquired the $24 million venue debt-free in February from the city of Lowell.
Members of the media are invited to attend this event, which will include sampling of new food and beverage options and brief remarks by Chancellor Marty Meehan. Representatives of the center’s new management company, Global Spectrum, and new food service provider, Aramark, will also be present.
The general public will get its first chance to experience the improved Tsongas Center at the UMass Lowell River Hawks first home hockey game of the season on Friday, Oct. 22 against the Providence College Friars. For information on all events, check out www.uml.edu/tsongascenter.
