Gym Class Heroes, NEO Concerts During Inauguration Week

Concert for Students with Gym Class Heroes ߝ Tuesday, April 1, 8 p.m.
Concert for Peace with NEO and Owen Young ߝ Friday, April 4, 6 p.m.

The Concert for Students features Gym Class Heroes, the self-described indie hip-hop band and winner of MTV’s 2007 Video Music Award for Best New Artist, will perform at the UMass Lowell Campus Recreation Center, 1 Pawtucket St., Lowell. Tickets are $15 for UMass Lowell students and $25 for the public, and available at

Living the Legacy ߝ Concert for Peace will be presented by the New England Orchestra (NEO) ߝ Lowell’s only professional orchestra ߝ and feature Boston Symphony Orchestra cellist Owen Young and UMass Boston Chancellor J. Keith Motley in an event to mark the 40th anniversary of the death of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. The performance is at Eliot Presbyterian Church, 273 Summer St., Lowell. Tickets are free for UMass Lowell students with ID and UML String Project students and their parents. Admission for all others is $10 for adults and $5 for students and seniors. INAUGURATION WEEK:  These concerts are part of a week-long series of events marking the next chapter in the history of UMass Lowell as Chancellor Martin T. Meehan is inaugurated. University of Massachusetts President Jack Wilson and Board of Trustees Chair Robert Manning ’84 will join numerous dignitaries, including U.S. Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and Gov. Deval Patrick, for the inauguration ceremony on Friday, April 4 at 10 a.m. at UML’s Campus Recreation Center.
