Meet the Artist Behind ‘walkingposters’ Exhibit

When: Wednesday, Nov. 14, 3:15 p.m.

O’Leary Library, Room 222, UML South, 61 Wilder St., Lowell

What: Richard Metzgar is featured in an artist talk, discussing his exhibit “walkingposters,” an “investigation in urbanism as a primary space of cultural experimentation” that includes digital prints, digital maps on vinyl and audio-visual components. A reception follows the artist talk and runs until 5 p.m. The “walkingposters” exhibit is on display through Dec. 13 at the University Gallery on the first floor of McGauvran Student Union, 71 Wilder St., also located on UML South. Admission to the gallery and artist talk is free. Gallery hours are Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and by appointment.

Students Compete in Robotic Egg Hunt
When:    Thursday, Nov.15, 2 p.m.
Where:   Olsen Hall’s third-floor lobby, UML North, 198 Riverside St., Lowell

What:  Robotics and graphic design students hold a competition in which student-designed robots (and eggs!) are collected and raced.

America Recycles Day’ Events Raise Awareness of Global Warming

When:  Thursday, Nov. 15, 4 to 5:30 p.m.

Where: Wannalancit Mill, MIL Conference Room, 600 Suffolk St., Lowell

What: The River Ambassadors ߝ 25 high school student volunteers committed to environmental stewardship ߝ are launching the Youth Environmental Expo, promoting recycling’s role in reducing the effects of global warming.  Events include an explanation and demonstration of environmentally friendly fashion. The event is co-sponsored by Community Health Alliance, Lowell National Historical Park, UMass Lowell Center for Family, Work & Community, United Teen Equality Center and Youth Service America.

Best of the Best High School Basketball Players at UML This Weekend

When:  Friday, Nov. 16 through Sunday, Nov. 18

Where: Costello Gym, UML North, 261 Riverside St., Lowell

What:  The nation’s best high school basketball players, including top-ranked seniors and potential NBA draft picks, will play at UMass Lowell during this weekend’s National Prep Showcase. Games will be played Friday from 1 to 9 p.m., Saturday 9 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sunday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Admission is $10 for adults or $5 for students with valid I.D.
