Mexico

What:
Prof. Chris Tilly, just back from a semester studying in Mexico, will discuss his findings of the changes in the retail sector in that country in light of NAFTA and other related policies at Monday, Sept. 20 at noon in O'Leary Library, Room 500M.
Tilly, a professor in the Department of Regional Economic and Social Development, is being presented as part of the Fall Seminar Series. The public is invited to attend.

Professors Present Seminar on Vision Loss
When: Wednesday, Sept. 22, 4 to 8:30 p.m.
Where: Vesper Country Club, 185 Pawtucket Blvd., Tyngsboro
What:
UMass Lowell professors and health care professionals will present a five-part seminar on age-related vision loss on Wednesday, Sept. 22 at 4 p.m. at the Vesper Country Club in Tyngsboro. Discussions will include symptoms, diagnostic measures, treatment, preventative strategies and the role of the caregiver in assisting an older adult with vision loss. In addition to providing an overview of the latest information, current research being conducted at the University also will be presented.

Where: UMass Lowell's South Quad, corner of Broadway and Wilder streets
What:
UMass Lowell will present "Culture Shock!," an International Culture Festival which will divide the UML South Quad into six global regions (Far East and South Pacific, South Asia, Middle East, Europe, Africa, North and South America and the Caribbean). The three-hour event begins Friday, Sept. 24th at 1 p.m.
Each region will feature a range of ethnic highlights, including international foods, booth hosts dressed in native garb and a live Reggae band.

Choral Union Calls for Voices
When: Ongoing
Where: Durgin Hall, UMass Lowell South, 35 Wilder St., Lowell
What:
The UMass Lowell Choral Union is looking for voices for many of its choral groups including the Choral Union and the Gentlemen's Concorde. These groups are open to the entire University community and to the Lowell area at large. No audition or previous choral experience is required. The ability to read music is highly desirable.
Choral Union rehearsals take place on Monday evenings, 7:30 to 9:20 p.m., in Durgin Hall 113. The Gentlemen's Concorde meets in Fisher Recital Hall (also in Durgin) on Tuesday evenings at 7:00 pm until about 8:30.
