LOWELL -- Representatives of MassDevelopment recently visited UMass Lowell's new Innovation Hub and Massachusetts Medical Device Development Center (M2D2) at 110 Canal St. in the city's Hamilton Canal District.

The visitors were on hand to learn about opportunities related to research in revolutionary fibers and textiles manufacturing, and how the Innovation Hub and M2D2 provide business incubator space and other assistance to startups.

Among those attending from MassDevelopment were President and CEO Marty Jones; Executive Vice President for Finance Programs Laura Carter; and Executive Vice President of Legislative Affairs and Defense Sector Initiatives Ann Marie Dow.

Hosts include UMass Lowell Chancellor Jacquie Moloney; Vice Provost for Research Julie Chen; UMass Lowell Associate Vice Chancellor for Entrepreneurship and Economic Development Steven Tello; Innovation Hub Director Tom O'Donnell; and two representatives of the university's HEROES Initiative, Ed Kingsley and Professor Ram Nagaragan

MassDevelopment is a quasi-government agency that provides a range of services to businesses, nonprofits and municipalities to promote economic development and job creation.
