Combining Computer Science With Arts

Computer science and the arts are traditionally taught as stand-alone disciplines. But thanks to "Performamatics," a National Science Foundation-funded program, they are being brought together to provide educational opportunities to students at UMass Lowell and local schools.

As part of their efforts to expand Performamatics beyond the university, professors Jesse Heines, Alex Ruthmann and Alex Case recently delivered three Tascam DR-100 digital recorders to Chelmsford's Parker Middle School so that Music teachers can capture rehearsals and make MP3 recordings available to students to help them practice.
