UMass holding scholarship program

LOWELL-- UMass Lowell is offering a Community College Scholarship Program to recognize the academic achievements of community-college graduates. Scholarships will be awarded to students wishing to pursue a bachelor's degree at UMass Lowell.

Thirty $2,500 scholarships will be available per year for full-time students, and they can be renewed once. Scholarship amounts for part-time students are prorated.

To qualify for the scholarship, applicants must have:

* Achieved a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.7.

* Completed 45 credits for an associate's degree at a Massachusetts community college.

* Completed the transfer admissions process into a day school at UMass Lowell.

Applications for those entering in the fall semester are due May 1. Applications for those entering in the spring semester are due Nov. 15.
