Shannon (LeBlanc) Hlebichuk, head coach of the UMass Lowell field hockey team, was named the Division II Coach of the Year by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association.

The honor is the latest of several this season for Hlebichuk, who recently completed her second year at UML and guided the River Hawks to the Northeast-10 Conference championship as well as the NCAA Tournament finals.

Hlebichuk was also named the Northeast-10 Conference Coach of the Year in November as well as the NFHCA Division II North Region Coach of the Year in December.

"It is a great honor to be voted coach of the year by my peers," Hlebichuk said. "This is a reflection on our entire coaching staff. (Assistant coaches) Kerri Dudley and Erin Stewart worked just as hard as I did and were especially valuable since I became a new mother this year. This is a great honor."
