Sophomore Julie Handy registered 17 kills and 15 digs as UMass Lowell defeated Franklin Pierce, 3-1 (30-25, 25-30, 30-15, 30-20) last night in a Northeast-10 Conference match at Costello Gym.
The River Hawks improved to 20-8 overall, and earned their seventh 20-win season in 10 years. UML capped the NE-10 regular season in second place for the second straight year with a 13-1 clip. UML enjoys a 10-day hiatus before the NE-10 Tournament Nov. 14-15 at Bentley.
Sophomore Katie Harrington added 8 kills and 11 digs. Junior Lauren Dufresne (Chelmsford) and senior Danielle Rivard each had 9 kills and 7 blocks while senior Andrea Turner dished out 53 assists in addition to 7 service aces and 6 kills. Sophomore Katye Larson had 7 kills and hit .636 in only two games. Junior Ashley Cote (Lowell) added 11 digs and 5 kills.
