The Lester Cushing Field Complex will be rededicated at an 11 a.m. ceremony on Saturday, Sept. 22. Thus will begin a year-long celebration of women’s sports on campus, with women’s soccer and field hockey games beginning at 1 p.m.
The rededication ceremony will recognize those who helped fund the field renovation project and celebrate a new era in River Hawk sports ߝ one in which all sports have a home on campus. The state-of-the-art NCAA ߝsized track and field complex will allow the River Hawks to host meets for the first time. Field hockey, soccer, football and tennis teams also will play at the complex.
The completed project cost roughly $2.9 million, most of which came from the state’s Title IX funds for women’s sports.
