Given the racism and targeted racial violence happening nationwide, we think it is important to acknowledge the systemic racism present in our own disciplines of Earth Science and reaffirm, as educators and researchers in Earth Science, our commitment to racial equity, and to increasing the representation and success of students and faculty from diverse backgrounds. We strongly support the statements by our Chancellor and professional societies (links below). We want to especially recognize the grief and vulnerability of our students and all students at this time: we are here to support you.
