Karen Hvizda joined the Manning School of Business student advising team in 2015 as the part-time Transfer Student Program Coordinator. Academic advising, recruitment, retention, and student success are her main focus. She assists transfer students in navigating their way around a new school and connecting them with all the resources available to them to ensure their success.
Her Transfer Student Program initiatives include a Transfer Student Fair each semester welcoming our Manning transfers, several summer Transfer Student Orientation sessions, and various activities throughout the year to encourage transfers to build relationships with faculty, staff, and peers. Karen is a member of the UML Council of Advisers.
Karen has been a Manning Adjunct Faculty member since 2006 teaching Professional Communications and has advised students and taught First Year Seminar in Honors for the Honors College.
She is a co-faculty adviser for the Manning Collegiate DECA Club, and can often be found volunteering to share her expertise in the area of Speaking with Confidence at various faculty workshops and student clubs upon request.
As an academic advisor to the North Shore APICS organization, she is involved in the promotion of supply chain and operations management student mentoring/shadowing activities.
She has over 30 years of experience in the corporate world most recently working in the area of Marketing Communications.
