“We are excited to assist high school students in learning a second language.”
WordPro won Honorable Mention, a $2,000 prize, at the 2016 Idea Challenge. Team members include Ruban Isagolov '19 (Business Administration) and Yovaldi Venter (Graduate Master of Science in Innovation and Technological Entrepreneurship).
WordPro is a vocabulary builder - digital flashcards - aimed at high school students learning a second language. However, anyone interested in learning these languages may purchase the apps. The content management system is designed in such a way that it is relatively inexpensive to produce a new language deck, hence giving WordPro the advantage in targeting smaller language groups, i.e. not competing with Rosetta Stone, Babbel, Pimsleur, etc. Over $10,000 has already been invested into the development of WordPro. The app is now available in the Apple Store and the team plans on expanding the app development over the summer.
