What is Unified Communications?

Unified Communications (UC) is the integration of communication tools that help people exchange ideas and do their jobs more effectively.

UMass Lowell has selected Skype for Business as its Unified Communications solution to allow faculty, staff, and students to communicate and collaborate in real-time in different ways.

You can communicate via instant message, have informal audio and/or video chats, share computer screens and programs, make/receive phone calls (faculty/staff only), and schedule meetings where all of these communication methods can be used. Skype for Business integrates directly with your existing Microsoft Office software to see your calendar availability, give you access to voicemail messages right from Outlook, and you can see when others are available to collaborate.
