The mission of the Honors College is to challenge, encourage, and celebrate undergraduate students who pursue a path of academic excellence on their way to becoming advanced scholars, working professionals, creative artists, and/or community leaders.
Experiential Learning/Co-Op Scholars Program
UMass Lowell Co-op Scholars (Research, Community, and Enterprise Learning) Program is for incoming freshmen who qualify for Dean’s scholarships or higher and who fulfill the GPA requirements during their first year are eligible to receive a paid co-op opportunity. These positions may be held during the summer following the freshmen year or the sophomore year.
Applying for Graduation
Students enrolled in the Exercise Physiology major must complete all degree requirements as outlined in the EP student manual. Students must complete all appropriate graduation clearance forms and submit to their department adviser.
Academic Honors and Awards
- University Honors: The University recognizes baccalaureate graduates who have attained exceptional scholastic distinction. To be eligible for such recognition a student must achieve a minimum grade point average of 3.0 for all courses completed at the University and must have earned a minimum of 60 semester credits at the University as upper class students. Three levels of distinction are noted at commencement: summa cum laude; 3.85, magna cum laude; 3.5, and cum laude; 3.25. University honors are officially entered on the permanent record of the students.
- Honors College/Program: Undergraduate students enrolled in the University Honors Program who complete all program requirements graduate as Commonwealth Honors Program Scholars.
