Exercise Physiology

A Helping Hand

UMass Lowell students have joined together across majors to design, build and donate prosthetic devices for children.

eNABLE Lowell is a local chapter of a global nonprofit volunteer organization that provides 3D printed prosthetic devices to children around the world.


All Exercise Physiology students are required to attend advising with their department advisor prior to registering for coursework each semester. Advisers are listed within each student's individual SIS account.

EP Student Manual

This EP Manual is applicable for all current EP students (freshman thru seniors including students who have transferred into the EP program). Please disregard that the cover indicates it is only for the Class of 2019.

Honors Program

The mission of the Honors College is to challenge, encourage, and celebrate undergraduate students who pursue a path of academic excellence on their way to becoming advanced scholars, working professionals, creative artists, and/or community leaders.

Experiential Learning/Co-Op Scholars Program

UMass Lowell Co-op Scholars (Research, Community, and Enterprise Learning) Program is for incoming freshmen who qualify for Dean’s scholarships or higher and who fulfill the GPA requirements during their first year are eligible to receive a paid co-op opportunity. These positions may be held during the summer following the freshmen year or the sophomore year.

Applying for Graduation

Students enrolled in the Exercise Physiology major must complete all degree requirements as outlined in the EP student manual. Students must complete all appropriate graduation clearance forms and submit to their department adviser.


Academic Honors and Awards


  • University Honors: The University recognizes baccalaureate graduates who have attained exceptional scholastic distinction. To be eligible for such recognition a student must achieve a minimum grade point average of 3.0 for all courses completed at the University and must have earned a minimum of 60 semester credits at the University as upper class students. Three levels of distinction are noted at commencement: summa cum laude; 3.85, magna cum laude; 3.5, and cum laude; 3.25. University honors are officially entered on the permanent record of the students.
  • Honors College/Program: Undergraduate students enrolled in the University Honors Program who complete all program requirements graduate as Commonwealth Honors Program Scholars.


The department review committee makes all student award selections.

  • Dean's Award - Presented to the graduating senior with the highest cumulative GPA within the Exercise Physiology program.
  • Exercise Physiology Award of Excellence - Awarded to the graduating senior who demonstrates outstanding promise as an Exercise Physiology professional.
  • Exercise Physiology Practicum Excellence Awards - Recognizes those Exercise Physiology graduating seniors who demonstrated exceptional clinical skills during their senior clinical practicum.
