You'll learn to think critically at the Solomont School of Nursing

As a student in the undergraduate program in nursing at UMass Lowell, you'll learn how to think critically and apply the nursing process when caring for clients of all ages in a variety of settings. You'll gain valuable real-world experience due to our collaborative relationships with more than 250 clinical agencies and opportunities to practice with students from other health science disciplines (Interprofessional Education).

The UMass Lowell Nursing BS program prepares you to:

  • Understand how healthcare organizations function and health policy impacts patients. 
  • Use research findings in your daily nursing practice to improve the care of patients.

  • Prepare for continued education in one of UMass Lowell’s excellent graduate programs.

  • Coral  Gonzalez
    Nursing

    Coral Gonzalez set her sights on becoming a nurse after she was hospitalized in middle school. The Honors College student won one of the first Oprah Winfrey Scholarships to help her succeed.

    Miranda Melo feels well prepared for her nursing career. Her past clinical rotations included working at Lowell General Hospital, Winchester Hospital, Holy Family Hospital and the Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of New England.

    Carly Tiches's desire to help and care for others began when she started coaching children in gymnastics. She realized that she enjoyed giving first aid and caring for injuries. Now she is turning that passion into a career.
