President's Message

Nursing Eta Omega Presidents
STTI International President Dr. Cathy Catrambone, Eta Omega President Sandra Mote, Past President Dr. Hester Klopper, and International President Elect Dr. Beth Tigges.

Dear Eta Omega Chapter Members:

This fall begins the second year in my role of Chapter President. Our Chapter has 269 active members and we have a strong group of committed members serving as officers on the board! I am very appreciative of past-presidents like Peggy Knight, who is on the leadership succession team and Pat Moysenko who has served our board for many years and is currently chapter vice-president. 2013 graduates, Sara Pietila and Lisa Carrabino are co-secretaries who manage our social media. Yuan Zhang is our new treasurer. Laurie Soroken serves as undergraduate counselor and new board member Patricia MacCulloch has agreed to serve as graduate counselor. We are extremely pleased to welcome our new leadership intern and 2015 graduate, Alexis Casimir.

We had some strong speakers this past year, beginning in the fall with Lauri Welch, PhD RN. Her presentation on "Opening Doors with a Ph.D." was a very inspiring message for our new inductees, board members and invited guests. In the Spring, Brenna Quinn, a 2011 undergraduate spoke about the benefits of a seamless education, going from BSN to PhD at the Fox Lecture and Spring induction.

Our 2014-2015 research grants were awarded to Yuan Zhang for her research, "Coping with Stress and Sleep Quality Among College Nursing Students", and Pam Delis, PhDc, "Uncertainty in Illness and Quality of Life in Systemic Lupus Erythematosus".

Save the date for our Sigma Social Hour, on October 5 at 5 p.m. at Cobblestones. And please join us for Founders Day Fall induction on November 16 at 6 p.m.

Welcome new inductees and new officers, thank you to all who continue to support and contribute to our Chapter. If you would like to become more actively involved contact:

Until then, we hope you visit our chapter website to keep informed.

Sandra Mote, RN, PMHCNS-BC
