Through the business curriculum students:

  1. Develop good oral and written communication skills.
  2. Comprehend elements of and demonstrate use of business plan by putting into practice with real technology.
  3. Understand the fundamental concepts of marketing, business strategy, innovation and entrepreneurship.
  4. Understand the basic concepts of financial management and able to assess the financial aspects of a new scientific venture or project and make recommendations for investments and payback.

Students take business courses developed to meet the needs of the technical and career-oriented professional. Many of the business electives are offered online in Spring, Fall and summer sessions. Students choose from several courses offered by UMass campuses in Amherst, Boston, Dartmouth and Lowell.
