The business and communication (PLUS) courses introduce students to the management of science and technology. Graduates of the Professional Science Master’s programs acquire competency in their technical fields as well as skills that enable them to translate this scientific knowledge into profitable products and services. These graduates provide industries with workers who bridge the gap between science and business, who have developed leadership and team building skills, who know how to lead innovations from idea to commercialization, who are aware of market and customer needs, and who are familiar with financial decisions.
Through the business curriculum students:
Students take business courses developed to meet the needs of the technical and career-oriented professional. Many of the business electives are offered online in spring, fall and summer sessions. Students choose from several courses offered by UMass campuses in Lowell, Amherst, Boston and Dartmouth.
Students should consult with faculty advisers to determine best course choice for their career advancement needs. All PSM students should include at least one course (basic or enhanced) that incorporates communication into their curriculum.
