Now that you have decided to attend the university, here are the next steps to get you started toward your degree.

1. Submit all official documents

As an accepted student, if you applied using unofficial documents (transcripts, foreign credential evaluation reports and/or test scores), all official documents must be submitted to UMass Lowell’s Graduate Admissions Office by the deadline below. If not, a registration hold will be placed on your student account. The hold will prohibit you from future enrollment and will remain until all official documents are received. Please review the deadlines below:

  • Accepted to Fall Semester: Official documents must be received by Sept. 1.
  • Accepted to Spring Semester: Official documents must be received by Jan. 20.
  • Accepted to Summer Semester: Official documents must be received by May 15.

Until all official documents are received, future term enrollment will be prohibited.


How to send Official Transcripts:
  • Official transcripts can be emailed from your prior university if they use a secure electronic transcript service.
  • If your prior school does not use a secure electronic transcript service you can send signed and sealed official transcripts to the address below:

If you have an original international transcript in your possession, UMass Lowell will accept notarized copies from a U.S. certified Notary Public.

How to send Official Test Scores:
  • Engineering Majors:
    • Official GRE test scores must be sent directly from the agency to EngineeringCAS using UMass Lowell’s school code: 4530
    • Official TOEFL must be sent directly from the agency to EngineeringCAS using UMass Lowell’s school code: B887
    • Official IELTS scores must be sent to UMass Lowell directly from the testing center.
    • Duolingo scores must be sent to Graduate_Admissions@uml.edu

  • All other Majors:
    • Official GRE, TOEFL, IELTS, GMAT test scores must be sent directly from the agency using UMass Lowell’s school code: 3911
    • Duolingo scores must be sent to Graduate_Admissions@uml.edu

2. Register for Your Classes

3. Sign up for New Graduate Student Orientation

Orientation provides valuable information about university resources, programs and events on campus, as well as graduate academic policies. Sign up for Orientation.

4. Domestic Students - File Your FAFSA

5. Health/Immunization Records

Make sure your health records are up-to-date and submit the required documents using the Health Services Patient Portal.
