Facilities

Are buildings on campus still open?

While the campus remains open, we continue to restrict access to as many buildings and facilities as possible for the safety of our community during this time.

Starting at 5 p.m. Tuesday, March 24, remaining residential students will have access only to their residence hall, Fox Hall for dining, and University Crossing Building B

Building access will end at 10 p.m. Monday, March 23 for faculty and staff as employees move to remote operations. Faculty and staff will need to call Police Dispatch at 978-934-2398 for needed access after that time, and then to retrieve essential forgotten items only. 

Exceptions to these restrictions include: 

  • Police 
  • Emergency Medical Services 
  • Lowell Fire 
  • Information Technology 
  • Facilities Operations & Services and project managers 
  • Environmental & Emergency Management 
  • Chancellor's Executive Cabinet Other persons or groups approved by Executive Cabinet members (such as researchers working on campus approved by the vice chancellor for research).

Can we have hand sanitizer dispensers installed in campus buildings?

Hand sanitizers are typically located in high-traffic areas. As a primary measure, please utilize soap and water/hand washing.

How do we receive hand sanitizer, Clorox wipes or paper towels for our office?

Hand sanitizer and Clorox wipes are to be bought through department purchasing.

How often are the restrooms being cleaned?

Restrooms are initially cleaned first thing in the morning and fixtures and touch points are revisited multiple times throughout the day.

How often are high-touch/high-traffic areas being cleaned, such as elevator buttons, railings and door handles?

High-touch/high-traffic surfaces cleaned multiple times throughout day.

Can we request additional cleaning in our office?

If you have a high-touch, high-traffic area that needs to be sanitized, please enter a work order. Employees are encouraged to keep their personal areas free from clutter when cleaning is scheduled.

Can we bring in an outside cleaning company?

All requests for cleaning need to go through Facilities Management either through a work order or a call to the Service Center at 978-934-2601.

Will cleaning be done in the residence halls while students are away?

Yes, high-touch/high-traffic surfaces in restrooms and common areas outside of dorm rooms are scheduled to be cleaned three times a day.

Will the student rooms be cleaned?

Students will continue to be responsible for the cleaning of their own rooms with their own CDC approved products.

If someone in my office is sick, can we request the office to be disinfected?

Please call the Service Center at 978-934-2601.

Can I purchase cleaning supplies from the university for my personal use?

No, state-procured materials cannot be used for personal use.

Are there filters in the ventilation systems and are they being changed?

Yes, the filters are changed on a regular preventative maintenance basis.

How often are the hydration stations being cleaned?

Hydration stations are cleaned daily. 

Can I still put in work orders?

Yes, Facilities Management staff is still under normal operating procedures.
