Janice Giampa has been an active singer and teacher in the Boston area for over twenty-five years. She performs regularly with the Handel and Haydn Society where she has performed and recorded as a soloist under the direction of Grant Llewellyn, Christopher Hogwood, Robert Spano, Harry Bicket, and John Finney. In the summer of 2007 she performed at the London Proms Festival at Royal Albert Hall under the direction of Sir Roger Norrington. As a member of Boston Baroque she has recorded numerous works including Messiah, Monteverdi Vespers, and Bach B Minor Mass, all of which were nominated for Grammy awards. She has toured with the Mark Morris Dance Company in productions of Dido and Aeneas and Gluck’s Orfeo which was presented at the Edinburgh Festival. She has performed with the Aston Magna Festival of Early Music and with the Hartford Symphony. She is on the faculty of the New England Conservatory School of Continuing Education where she directs the Opera Studio and teaches Dramatic Coaching of Songs and Arias.
In addition, Ms. Giampa is an active member of the Boston Chapter of the National Association of Teachers of Singing, has served on the Board of Directors, and has adjudicated the Boston Song Festival Competition regularly for the past ten years. She is also a member of The Voice Foundation, an international organization dedicated to ongoing voice research.
