My philosophy of education and my experience as an immigrant has influenced my research interest. As an immigrant from the Democratic Republic of Congo, in central Africa, I have an innate sense of the necessity of cultural responsiveness in the classroom and in the school, and its need to be folded into the fabric of all aspects of the school.
