Research Interest

My research interests broadly focuses on 'energy for productive uses' considering renewable energy rural electrification (RE) off-grid solutions; resource utilization, management, and governance; industrial policy; poverty reduction;and private-sector development.  Specifically, I would like to investigate the veracity of infrastructure-based economic growth theories by assessing the relationship between rural electrification and economic development of Nigerian peripheries and other under-developed territories in effort to spur industrialization (entrance of new MSME manufacturing enterprises; increased productivity and profitability of current firms; labor demand, and employment). Allied to this examination is an unraveling of the underlying variables responsible for success and failures across nation states (that have provided RE), enabling me to improve existing theoretical renderings behind drivers of balanced spatial and regional development generating deeper economic inclusion.
