Matt Hurwitz teaches in the First Year Writing Program at UMass Lowell and is involved in a number of initiatives, including redesigning writing courses for online education and launching a service learning section of College Writing I in the fall of 2013. During the summer of 2012, he co-designed and co-taught a pilot version of the Summer Intensive Writing Workshop for incoming freshmen. He is also currently working on research related to the representation of English national identity and empire in 1960s British travel fictions.
