Biosketch

I have been with UMass Lowell since 2005, working as a career counselor and, most recently, an academic advisor for first-year students in the College of Fine Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences. I have taught several credit-bearing courses including Career Exploration Seminar, Job Search Seminar, and First Year Seminar Honors. Prior to joining UMass Lowell, I worked for Boston University as a consultant, career services manager, and job developer.

Information for Students

I am passionate about helping first-year college students discover their interests and begin to formulate a plan for academic and professional success. What I ask of my students is that they:
  • reach out if experiencing a challenge that is impacting their potential to succeed
  • respond to my outreach in a timely way
  • make a genuine effort and remain open to the possibility of discovering new things.
The following tools should be bookmarked and used frequently, as they will help with the process of acclimating to college and planning for academic success:
  • Student Now Dashboard: Find your schedule, make an appointment with your advisor(s), see your upcoming appointments, enroll in classes, and find important dates and announcements.
  • FAHSS Degree Pathways: Recommended sequencing of coursework for all FAHSS majors.
  • Class Search: Search for classes by department, Breadth of Knowledge category, and location.
  • Campus Knowledge Base: Get answers to your questions about advising, financial aid and billing.
  • Minors: Learn about the requirements for adding a minor.
These seven simple steps will help when it comes time to plan for the following semester:
  1. Resolve all HOLDS (Financial, Immunization and Advising), as they will prevent you from being able to register for classes.
  2. Find the exact day and time at which you can register by logging into SiS and clicking on Enrollment Dates.
  3. Run an Academic Advisement Report in SiS and print the PDF version, if possible.
  4. Review the Degree Pathway for your major and begin deciding which classes you’d like to take next semester (with a couple of back-ups in mind, in case first choices are full).
  5. Schedule an appointment with your UMass Lowell Professional and/or Faculty Advisor.
  6. Using Schedule Builder (click on My Academics from the Student Now Dashboard) or SiS, select your desired courses and put them in your enrollment cart. (Note: YOU ARE NOT enrolled in classes at this point).
  7. When your specific enrollment appointment comes along, you can register for classes (unless any holds are still unresolved) by logging in to your enrollment cart and enrolling in all courses.
