2018 – Present Director of Academic Programs at UMass Lowell College of Engineering, Lowell, Mass.

Bradley Mingels is the Director of Academic Programs and Advanced Manufacturing for the University of Massachusetts Lowell College of Engineering. He is responsible for academic curricula and course development serving defense, commercial, and academic educational segments.

Bradley Mingels has been an adjunct faculty member for the University of Massachusetts Lowell College of Engineering for over thirty (30) years and Northeastern University for over twenty (20) years. In addition to teaching Manufacturing Engineering and Mechanical Engineering design and analysis courses, he specializes in Manufacturing Efficiency, Data Analysis (predictive model development and pattern recognition) and Engineering Economics (replacement analysis, capital recovery, and project return on investment). His expertise has allowed him to develop workflow and data models for defense contractors, commercial organizations, and academic institutions. He is additionally responsible for Advanced Manufacturing process and technology development serving defense and commercial industries. He has over twenty (20) years of industry experience as well as over thirty (30) years of academic experience and continues to consult on a variety of Manufacturing, Engineering, and Data Analysis topics.

2008 – 2018 Independent Consultant, Businology, Inc., Scituate, Mass.

Analyze and advise small to medium size organizations on business analytics, sales and marketing strategies, product development, and product positioning. Additional sales and market analysis, marketing collateral design and communication development including sales tools, forecasting models, marketing communications, and press releases. Clients include ABC Testing, 3M Adhesive Applications, Inc., Venture Tape, and ButcherBox as well as others.

2007 – 2008 Director, QSA Global Division of ITW, Burlington, Mass.

Took a start-up venture within a division of ITW from under $1 million to approximately $6 million annually in under two (2) years. Combination of market assessment, product mix analysis, and partnership creation, and divisional stewardship resulted in a solid addition to the ITW company, industry, and product mix.

2003 – 2007 International Business and Marketing Manager, Venture Tape, Rockland, Mass.

Responsible for Australasia division serving wide range of industries in Australia the Pacific Rim. Corporate marketing responsibilities for US, UK, Italy, Korea, and Australia operations as well as product and manufacturing integration for acquisitions. Through business and market analysis, his management transformed the Australasia division from borderline insolvency to one of the highest performers, based on profitability-to-sales

1998 – 2003 Marketing Manager, Tyco Adhesives (div. of Tyco International), Norwood, Mass.

Responsible for market and business development for diversified OEM producer of specialty tapes and packaging products. Responsible for strategic and product planning, market analysis, positioning and penetration strategies, technology licensing, contract negotiation, program management, corporate training, and financial analysis.

1995 – 1998 Business Development Manager, Fraen Corporation, Reading, Mass.

Business and market development for OEM producer of high precision plastic and metal components and assemblies serving automotive, communications, fiber optic, medical, consumer products, electronics, and scientific instrument industries.

1985 - 1995 Engineering positions in Microwave Communications and Infrared Imaging and Spectroscopy

Initially beginning as a Manufacturing Engineer in the microwave telecommunications industry, Mingels became an expert in process analysis, workflow analysis, fixture design, and manufacturing efficiency. His fixture designs seamlessly blended efficiency, ergonomics, and throughput and typically had a capital recovery period of less than six (6) months. Mr. Mingels spent eight (8) years in infrared (IR) electro-optics, designing detectors and systems for night vision systems, satellites, security, fire detection, environmental gas analysis, medical gas analysis, Near Infrared (NIR) spectroscopy, Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, and other specialized applications. Efficiency and design for manufacturing were hallmarks of his designs, which frequently included accompanying tooling to ensure a smooth transition from initial design through manufacture. Synergistic Activities: Mr. Mingels supports advanced manufacturing and academic development in defense, commercial, and educational arenas through course and curriculum development. Programs are designed for maximum flexibility and are adaptable for either skills-based or credit-based outcomes.
