First year engineering students developed presentations for GLTHS students to demonstrate benefits of solar energy, and to introduce the high school students to the engineering discipline and use of engineering analysis and calculations to predict outcomes. The UML Mechanical Engineering first year students were very enthused about the presentation, and worked extra hard, much more than the regular students within the course, to achieve the results. The GLTHS students were motivated by the UML ME students’ presentation and inspired to inquire about the environment and about preparing for college after High School graduations.
