Checklist before submitting

  1. Is your image 22" x 7"?artwork size
  2. Does your image have a 1-inch border, making the submitted poster size 24" x 9"?
  3. Do you use a landscape orientation?
  4. Are the words, numbers, formulas, and/or symbols used readable from 5 feet away?
  5. Did you use white paper/canvas?
  6. Is your art work free of photographs and clipart?
  7. Did you answer one of the three prompts?
    • The "Greenhouse Effect" warms the surface of the Earth. Greenhouse gases absorb heat energy that would otherwise leave the surface of the Earth. Burning of fossil fuels enhances this effect by increasing Greenhouse gas concentrations in the atmosphere leading to increasing surface temperatures. Create an image that explains how the Greenhouse Effect works.
    • Fossil fuels such as coal, natural gas, and oil all produce carbon dioxide when they are burned to produce energy.  What energy sources lead to fewer carbon dioxide emissions than fossil fuels?
    • Hurricanes are generated over warm oceans and travel towards land. When they hit land (the East Coast of the US for example), they can cause destruction of homes, flooding, and disruption of everyday life. How can your community prepare for more frequent and/or more intense hurricanes?
  8. If submitting electronically, did you save file as JPEG or GIF with a resolution of 300 dpi?
  9. If submitting a hard copy by mail, is your artwork completed and have you taped a copy of a completed general release form on the back?

If you can answer yes to all these questions, you are ready to submit your work in one of two ways:

  • Registering and uploading your artwork electronically (digital file upload)
  • Registering and submitting your artwork via mail (general release form, pdf)
