Environmental Stewardship

Cross-Department Collaboration

In response to the passage of the Climate Action Plan in January of 2012 , the University began to rapidly increase its focus on sustainability. The Environmental and Emergency Management Department along with Facilities: Operations and Services became leaders in implementing a wide array of sustainable initiatives on campus.

Energy efficiency, building operations and design have been the principal focus of Operations and Services. The work in Environmental and Emergency Management has been focused around Environmental Stewardship, Waste Diversion and Community Engagement. The success seen in working to bring sustainability to the forefront of university initiatives would not have been possible without cross-department and university-wide collaboration.
