This option provides the student with a broad foundation in the Biological Sciences. Students who choose the General Biology option are allowed to customize curriculum by selecting advance course electives that match their particular interests in career goals. The curriculum also provides the students with all the requirements needed for students pursuing health professions (MD, PA, DVM, DDS, etc…).
In addition to the core requirements, the student must complete four additional 3000-4000 level biology courses selected from among all biology listings (BIOL prefix), two of which must contain the corresponding laboratory component. The two courses with a laboratory component may be replaced by completing two semesters of senior research (BIOL.4110L and BIOL.4120L).
Although Calculus for Life Sciences II (MATH.1390) is not required, students pursing post-graduate studies are strongly encouraged to take this course as a free elective. Consult with your advisor.
