We're joining forces with the UMass Lowell Office of Sustainability, Climate Change Coalition, Merrimack River Watershed Council, Merrimack Valley Sierra Club and other local environmentally minded organizations and individuals to clean up the Merrimack River that we all enjoy! Join us for a fun, community building, service event. Included in registration are snacks and refreshments and boat rental for the cleanup session. Those who own their own kayak and equipment are encouraged to use it during this course.
All necessary program equipment is provided.

Moderate: Participants will paddle 1-5 mi. / 2-8 km. and current may be present but weak. Waves will be less than 1 foot with the potential for winds up to 10 mph. Expect potentially cold water. Previous experience is recommended but not required. Swimming ability with life jacket assistance is required. Paddle times usually run 3-5 hours a day.
Appropriate for adults and children 14 and older when accompanied by a parent.
Must be able to independently keep head above water while wearing in a life jacket / pfd.
No previous experience required.
