KIDS AND TEENS CLINICS

KAYAK KIDS PADDLE SKILLS CLINIC

This three-day skills clinic combines skill development and environmental education with a boat full of fun! First and foremost, kids will learn how to be safe on the water. They will become masters of their boats learning posture, paddle strokes, rescues, and more through fun and engaging games, lessons and activities. We will explore the paddling environment with segments on weather, water quality, plants and animals. Kids will leave with kayaking skills, self-confidence, environmental awareness and lasting memories.

Physical Exertion

Easy - Moderate: Participants will paddle 0-2 mi. / 0-4 km. on flat water conditions with minimal wind. No previous experience is required. Participant must be able to keep head up while wearing a life jacket in deep water. Paddle times usually run 2-4 hours.

Prerequisites

Appropriate for kids 10-13 years old.

Must be able to independently keep head above water while wearing in a life jacket / pfd

No previous experience required.

TEEN KAYAKING ADVENTURE KAYAK CLINIC

Description

For teens looking for a paddling adventure of their own, join us for three days of exploration. After a day of safety and kayak paddling instruction on the Merrimack River, we will venture out to some of its tributaries--from the scenic Concord to the marshy Nashua River, come experience a great diversity. We will explore these areas and learn kayaking skills, ecology and our environmental impact during this adventurous week! Instruction will be primarily with kayaks however teens will also get a chance to paddle stand up paddleboards and canoes on one day during the week.

Physical Exertion

MODERATE:Participants will paddle 1-5 mi. / 2-8 km. and current may be present but weak. Waves will be less than 1 foot with the potential for winds up to 10 mph. Expect potentially cold water. Previous experience is recommended but not required. Swimming ability with life jacket assistance is required. Trips usually run 3-5 hours a day sometimes over multiple days.

Appropriate for teens 14 to 17 years old.
