What got you interested in fitness and exercise?
When I was growing up I was always an athlete but struggled with my weight. While in middle school my uncle introduced me to weight training to help me get stronger for football. Struggling with my weight and striving to be a better football player I saw exercise as an opportunity to change my body. I soon began reading everything I could on anatomy and physiology and discovered my passion for fitness and exercise.
Why did you want to become a personal trainer at Campus Recreation?
The friendly and supportive atmosphere made me feel like the CRC would be the perfect place to start as a trainer and develop my skills. Over time I have come to love the variety of clients I get to meet and help, and working here has allowed me to develop and hone my training techniques.
What is your philosophy on fitness?
Fitness is about leading a healthy and balanced lifestyle. Fitness is not just a 12 week diet or training program. Fitness is about leading a life that promotes health and well being. Many people find working out to be a chore, my goal when working with clients is to help them find what makes them happy so they enjoy training. Whether that's playing a game of basketball or lifting as much weight as possible, fitness should be something you enjoy and helps you live a more functional and healthy life.
What are some of your hobbies and other interests?
I love to snowboard in the winter and go to the beach in the summer. I also compete in natural bodybuilding competitions every couple years to challenge myself physically and mentally.
