UMass Lowell Campus Recreation Group Fitness Instructor Workshop
No matter what format a fitness instructor is leading, the skills need to run a successful group class are similar. In this course expect to learn the beginning foundations needed to instruct an effective and safe fitness class. Participants will learn practical skills for: proper cueing techniques, how to modify exercises, musicality, class formats, creating choreography and more.
Your attendance in at least five group fitness classes is required prior to registration. You will be required to complete an additional 10 hours of classes (five observation/note taking, five in attendance of a variety of formats) to complete training. You must be a UMass Lowell student and planning to be a full time student fall 2017.
Note: Completing this course does not guarantee a position as a fitness instructor at UMass Lowell. Formal interviews/auditions will be needed afterward.
