Jennifer Thomas began her rowing career in her sophomore year of high school at Narragansett Boat club in Providence, Rhode Island. During high school, Jenn was an active competitive sailor and was a founding member and two year captain of the sailing team at her high school, the Prout School in Wakefield, Rhode Island. Jenn was actively recruited by colleges around the country. After transferring, Jenn finished her college years at Endicott College in Beverly, Massachusetts. At Endicott, Jenn was a four year varsity rower and fixture in the first boat. Jenn was a two year captain and two time Coaches Award recipient for the Gulls. In her senior year, Jenn completed a semester long internship with the Institute for Rowing Leadership at Community Rowing Inc. In the spring of her senior year, while still actively training with Endicott, Jenn served as the Girls Junior Varsity coach at the Brooks School in North Andover, Massachusetts. She graduated from Endicott College in 2014 with a BS in Sport Management. In the fall of 2014, Jennifer was named the Girls Assistant Varsity coach at Cambridge Rindge & Latin School in Cambridge, Massachusetts. During the summer of 2015, Jenn coached with RowAmerica in Manchester, New Hampshire. Jenn is also the Head Coach at Lowell High.
