Branden Arends is completing his Bachelors of Science in Kinesiology and Health through Iowa State University while serving as the Outdoor Adventure and Bicycle Programs Intern here at UML. While at Iowa State University, Branden served as a Trip Leader, Climbing Wall Attendant, and Office Manager at the Outdoor Recreation Program for three years. He also served with Student Wellness for three years as a Peer Wellness Educator (PWE). As a PWE, Branden worked with various departments and student organizations across campus to coordinate and facilitate programs and initiatives that support student wellbeing. Branden’s passion for expanding the diversity and increasing participation in outdoor recreation activities led him to start the Iowa State University Rec. Branden’s favorite outdoor activities include cycling, rock climbing, and anything on the water (SUP, canoe, kayak, etc.). Feel welcome and encouraged to spark up a conversation with Branden about all things outdoors, inclusion, and/or wellness.
