CAMPUS RECREATION CENTER CENTER (978-934-5080)
Opened in 2002, the 65,000-square-foot Campus Recreation Center, located at 322 Aiken Street, is a state-of-the-art recreational facility designed to meet the needs of the UMass Lowell campus community. The Campus Recreation Center is open to all full time students, faculty, staff as well as adjunct faculty and those who are eligible to purchase a CRC membership. Campus Recreation Center Fitness Center
The 6,500-square-foot fitness center is filled with state-of-the-art fitness equipment that will satisfy both the inexperienced and experienced user. Precor, Cybex, Lifefitness and Concept II cardiovascular equipment is complemented by Cybex and Iron Grip strength equipment.
Three multipurpose courts are utilized for basketball, volleyball and badminton. The courts are also used for intramural sports competitions and club sport practices and games. View online schedule.
Two multipurpose studios are located on the second floor of the facility. Both studios have state-of-the-art Bose sound systems with wireless microphones for instructors. Muscular conditioning, mind-body, and aerobic-based group fitness classes such as Zumba, kickboxing, yoga, abs, and Pilates utilize these spaces. The studios are also used for instructional programs and club sports team practices including martial arts, fencing, dance and a host of other pursuits. View online schedule.
The track is 1/10 of a mile. Exercisers alternate directions every day. Walkers are asked to stay on the inside lanes and runners should use the outside lanes.
Squash & Racquetball Courts - Reserve a court online!
Two racquetball courts and one squash court are available for use. Each court has glass back walls so action can be viewed from both the first and second floor of the building. All racquetball participants must wear eye protection.
Faculty, staff and students can reserve a squash or racquetball court online (maximum 1 hour each day per person and only 1 day in advance). PLEASE NOTE: Paid members can only reserve the racquetball and squash courts by calling the Campus Recreation Center at (978) 934-5080.
Locker-room facilities are available to all patrons of the Campus Recreation Center. Lockers are for day use only and we provide a free equipment check-out service. Patrons can pick up equipment at the Welcome Desk and leave their ID as collateral. Equipment available includes: basketballs, racquetball, squash, ping pong, pool, weight belts, jump ropes and other fitness equipment. Men's and women's locker rooms include showers and saunas.
Opened in the fall of 2013, this is a 9,000 square foot state-of-the-art fitness center is open to all full-time students, faculty and staff as well as adjunct faculty. The Riverview Fitness Center is open for the fall and spring semesters. View current hours.
The Riverview Fitness Center is located on the first floor of Riverview Suites Residence Hall on South Campus, 1291 Middlesex Street St. Lowell, MA 01851. This facility contains Precor and Cybex fitness equipment including over 25 pieces of cardio, full selectorized circuit, stretching and free weight area. Cardio machines have integrated screens where you can watch TV or surf the web!
Facility amenities include locker rooms with bathrooms, showers and electronic programmable lockers. Free towel checkout is available. Patrons can register for all Campus Recreation programs at the Riverview Fitness Center Desk or even sign up for a personal trainer! There are 20 available parking spots in the Riverview Suites Garage for faculty and staff.
UMass Lowell Bellegarde Boathouse (978-934-1549)
The Boathouse is located at 500 Pawtucket Blvd., Lowell MA 01854. The UMass Lowell Kayak Center is located at the Boathouse and offers kayak, canoe and stand-up paddleboard rentals and kayak instructional programs and tours each summer. The Boathouse can even be rented out for special events such as weddings, catered gatherings, corporate outings or group retreats. For more information visit the Rowing & Kayak Center website.
