MAGIC is an academic initiative designed to enhance competitive credentials for all students who aspire to enter health professional programs, especially those who are historically underrepresented in the health profession. Students from all majors are encouraged to apply.

Program Admission Requirements

Applicants must be:
  • On a pre-health professional or graduate research track
  • First-year students who are enrolled in Chemistry l with lab.
  • Returning students who are enrolled in Organic Chemistry l with lab, minimum science GPA 3.000 minimum cumulative GPA 3.250 

MAGIC Participant Expectations

If you are accepted into the MAGIC program, you agree to: 

  • Attend comprehensive academic coaching held twice weekly during the academic year,
  • Take part in group pre-health advising sessions,
  • Be present at Saturday mentoring workshops at least twice per semester,
  • Participate in winter and summer online academic preparation for the upcoming semester,
  • Maintain a minimum 3.000 science GPA, and
  • Maintain a minimum 3.250 cumulative GPA.

Early consideration deadline is Sept. 3, 2024, and the final deadline is Sept. 18, 2024. 
Transfer students can contact Dr. Reddie directly for application during the first semester they are admitted to UMass Lowell.
