Heather Makrez ’06, ’08, director of Alumni Relations

As the new director of alumni relations, I sincerely wish you and your family a wonderful summer. I’m hoping this next academic year results in renewed growth of alumni involvement. To those alumni already engaged, we can’t thank you enough. To those looking to get involved, we can help you find the best way to reconnect with the University.

It’s a busy world, and we understand the challenging schedules we all face. That’s why we’ve provided several options – with  varying levels of commitment required – for becoming an ongoing part of the University:
  • Become an Alumni Representative: The Office of Alumni Relations has a menu of volunteer opportunities, including student mentoring, admissions recruitment, event planning, reunion engagement and so much more. Please email us at for more information.
  • Nominate Someone for a University Alumni Award: Our recent 2012 Awards Celebration was a tremendous success. We are now looking for nominations for our 2013 Alumni Awards.  These nominations will be open until early 2013; winners will be selected from a committee of alumni, staff and faculty.  If you don’t have full information on a nominee, please send us as much as you can and we will research the remaining details.
  • Be Sure We Have Your Seasonal Address: Alumni events are planned all across the country.  Make sure we know how to reach you so you don’t miss out on great gatherings in your area! Update your information online and we will send you an invitation if we are hosting an event in your area.
  • Check Out Our NEW and IMPROVED website: Register for our online directory, search for friends, learn about the benefits and services available to you, send a class note for the alumni magazine, check out the calendar of events and seek out other ways to be involved. Please send us your comments and suggestions.
