The Enriching Essential Learning Outcomes (E2LO) Initiative creates intentional connections between classroom learning and real-world experiences. The Core Curriculum’s seven Essential Learning Outcomes are the focus of this this partnership between Academic Affairs and Student Affairs. The outcomes are woven into every curriculum by design, and the E2LO Initiative enriches those classroom experiences with co-curricular learning experiences designed to help students apply and realize those outcomes outside of the classroom.
Students, staff, and faculty are all involved in identifying and creating these experiences. Some are intensive engagements—such as the process of becoming and serving as a Diversity Peer Educator, which expands upon classroom learning about Diversity and Cultural Awareness with immersive experience in community leadership, cultural competency, and social justice work; some connect to the big ideas of the Core ELOs in a simpler way—such as resume makeover workshop that helps students present their accomplishments in Applied and Integrative Learning to a prospective employer. As a bonus, students earn fun rewards for participating in the E2LO program!
