The UMass Lowell Award for Outstanding Campus Engagement is designed to honor distinguished participation in service and engagement activities at the university and elsewhere.
UMass Lowell prides itself on outstanding efforts made by professors to contribute to the campus and to our professional and public communities. Faculty bring the classroom to the community and engage in meaningful ways to enhance student learning and faculty engagement, in addition to developing other creative ways of contributing their professional expertise to improve the campus and beyond. The university appreciates the time and effort involved in serving and engaging in impactful ways.
Documented evidence of the outstanding impact made by a faculty member through depth, breadth, and leadership in service and engagement on and off campus. Evidence may include sustained and demonstrated impact from a successful innovation through his or her service contributions and professional engagement.
Any full-time faculty member may nominate a colleague for this award. Faculty may not self-nominate. Nominators are asked to send an email to: FacultyHonors@uml.edu , which includes the name of the award in the subject line. Also attach a 200-word-or-less letter of nomination outlining why the individual faculty member is deserving of the award. Nominations should include concrete examples and outcomes of the effectiveness of the nominee’s service and engagement both on campus and off campus.
The Faculty Honors Committee will meet by March 28, 2019, to review the nominations and make a recommendation to the Provost or designee.
The winner of this award will be announced by April 1, 2019, and invited to an awards ceremony in mid-April, where he or she will be asked to present a 2-minute lightning talk on impactful campus engagement. The winner also will receive a $1,000 award.
