Scholarships & Benefits

High School Scholarships

There are three types of scholarships that can be awarded to rising college freshmen:

  • Type 1 covers full tuition and fees at any university with an AFROTC Detachment¬†
  • Type 2 pays up to $18,000 dollars to any university with an AFROTC Detachment
  • Type 7 pays full tuition and applicable fees at any public university where the student qualifies for in-state tuition.¬†

In addition, all scholarship cadets are given an annual book allowance, and a monthly living stipend.

In College Scholarships

Students who did not receive a High School Scholarship may still be eligible to receive an In-College Scholarship. Any medically qualified Cadets with a GPA of 3.0 or greater will be automatically entered into consideration to receive a scholarship.

Room and Board Scholarships

Although the AFROTC Scholarships do not cover room and board, UMass Lowell offers full room and board scholarships to select cadets. These scholarships cover the costs of several residence halls on campus as well as the cost of a Gold Meal plan.

Benefits of Active Duty

There are exceptional benefits that are available to Air Force officers. Competitive pay, full medical and dental coverage and paid vacation are just a few examples.
