Designing a Sports Band

Workshop Description

In this workshop, students will learn how to design a sports band with SolidWorks 3D product design software.  Students will create the model, apply photorealistic images, and animate their design.  The engineering design process is explored and students get a change to perform the same experience as a design engineer.

Marie PlanchardAs the director of education for world markets for SolidWorks, I work with teachers and students in middle school, high school and college.  Students learn our software to design products on the computer.   Most students in middle school and high school use SolidWorks to learn how models are created.  They work on projects the build an analysis model wooden bridges, cars and robots.

In college, most engineering students use our software to design their own products.  SolidWorks is used by companies such as Safety First, Proctor and Gamble, and Hasbro to design great products.

Advice for Career Path

To be a design engineer you need math, science, especially physics, and imagination!
