Directions to Olney Hall, UMass Lowell North

olney hall

From Routes 128/95

Take exit 32 from Rte 128/95 to Rte 3 northbound. Follow Rte 3 northbound to Exit 30 to Rte 495 Northbound (towards Lawrence).

Follow Rte 495 to Exit 38, which is also state Rte 38. Follow Rte 38 northbound (towards Lowell). At approximately 1.1 miles from Rte 495, the street you are on will come to a fork at a traffic light. Take the right fork (signed as "Rte 38 Dracut"). At approximately 1.8 miles, you will pass Saints Memorial Medical Center on the left, just before the bridge across the Merrimack River.

After crossing the Merrimack River, you will come to a rotary which connects the bridge to the highway along the north bank of the river. Follow signs for "Rte 38 Dracut" through the rotary.

Rte 38 then joins with "the Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Highway" which runs along the riverbank.

Continue straight ahead at the next traffic light along the Merrimack River (A sign will say "To 113-3A-3". Rte 38 will turn to the right at this traffic light but you want to continue straight ahead).

Follow the Merrimack River on the VFW Highway until you come to the University's North Campus (you will see our new football and soccer fields, and the characteristic round steel dome of our nuclear reactor). Turn right at the traffic light onto University Avenue, and then right again onto Riverside Street. The Olney Science Center will be straight ahead.  The Olney Science Center is the last building on the right on the campus, and the parking lot entrances are immediately past the building on the right.

From Route 93

From I-93, take exit 46 (Routes 110 and 113, Lawrence Dracut). When you exit I-93, you will enter the rotary in which Routes 110 and 113 are merged to pass under the I-93 highway. From the rotary, take the exit labeled "110-113 West, Lowell Dracut". Shortly after leaving the rotary, Route 113 will exit to the right.  Continue straight ahead on Route 110 West. The Merrimack River will be on your left for the entire distance to the University.

At approximately 6.5 miles from the I-93 rotary, you will pass the Lowell wastewater treatment plant on your left. Shortly after this (6.8 miles) Route 110 will exit the highway you are on, to join with Route 38  to cross the river into downtown Lowell. Do not follow Route 110 as it exits: continue straight ahead through the underpass. The road you are on will become the "Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Highway" and will continue along the river across from downtown Lowell (a sign will say "To 113-3A-3" but the road itself has no route designation at this point).

Continue along the VFW Highway until you come to the University's North Campus (you will see our new football and soccer fields, and the characteristic round steel dome of our nuclear reactor). Turn right at the traffic light onto University Avenue, and then right again onto Riverside Street. The Olney Science Center will be straight ahead.  The Olney Science Center is the last building on the right on the campus, and the parking lot entrances are immediately past the building on the right.
