Asil Oztekin is an Assistant Professor of Operations and Information Systems Department, Manning School of Business and a participating faculty member for the Biomedical Engineering & Biotechnology Program at UMass Lowell.  Oztekin is certified by SAS® as a Predictive Modeling and Data Mining expert. His work has been published in top tier outlets such as European Journal of Operational Research, Decision Support Systems, International Journal of Production Research, OMEGA: The International Journal of Management Science etc. One of his publications entitled “An RFID Network Design Methodology for Asset Tracking in Healthcare” has been listed amongst the Most Cited journal articles at Decision Support Systems since 2010.

Oztekin served as a guest co-editor at the Annals of Operations Research journal for the special issue themed “Data Mining & Analytics”. He also co-edited a special issue as a guest editor entitled “Intelligent Computational Techniques in Science, Engineering, and Business” in Expert Systems with Applications journal.  Oztekin is the Associate Editor for the Journal of Modelling in Management and he is currently serving as an official Editorial Review Board member for the Industrial Management & Data Systems, Journal of Computer Information Systems, Service Business: an International Journal, International Journal of Medical Engineering and Informatics, International Journal of RF Technologies: Research and Applications, International Journal of Services and Operations Management, International Journal of Operations Research and Information Systems, International Journal of Data Analysis Techniques & Strategies, and International Journal of Business Analytics. He often leads mini-tracks and sessions at INFORMS, HICSS, IEEE conferences such as Data, Text, & Web Mining for Business Analytics, Data Mining in Decision Making, Predictive Analytics & Big Data, Machine Learning For Predictive Models and etc.  Oztekin has served as the chair of Informs 2015 Data Mining & Analytics Workshop as well. Additionally, he is an active ad-hoc reviewer for numerous journals such Decision Sciences, Decision Support Systems, International Journal of Production Research, International Journal of Production Economics, Applied Mathematical Modelling and etc.

Oztekin has received the Teaching Excellence Award in April 2014 and has been the Recognized Researcher of the Manning School of Business as awarded by the Vice Provost for Research of UMass Lowell in February 2014. He was also selected to be “29 Who Shine-The Most Influential Campus Mentor of UMass Lowell” awarded by the Governor of Massachusetts and Massachusetts Department of Higher Education in May 2014. Additionally, he was the recipient of the Alpha Pi Mu Outstanding Industrial Engineering & Management Research Assistant Award from Oklahoma State University in 2009.
