Tsongas Industrial History Center's 20th Anniversary

In October 1991, Lowell National Historical Park and the UMass Lowell Graduate School of Education opened a unique education center to encourage and facilitate the study of Lowell's industrial history through hands-on activities and use of Park resources.

The Tsongas Industrial History Center is celebrating its 20th anniversary throughout the 2011-12 school year, starting with a "birthday" party and continuing with a series of activities for students, teachers, families and the general public throughout the year. Discover why over a million students and teachers have visited the Tsongas Industrial History Center to learn about history and culture, technology and engineering, and more!

Please visit this site often for updates of events happening throughout the year!

October 2011 – June 2012: 20th Anniversary Quilt Exhibit
Tsongas Industrial History Center, Fourth Floor

Over the course of the summer and fall of 2011, Tsongas Industrial History Center summer campers worked on a quilt to commemorate 20 years of education programming provided by the Tsongas Industrial History Center. The quilt was made from cloth hand-woven by campers, combined with cloth produced on the power looms at the Boott Cotton Mills Museum. The final quilt was created with help from the New England Quilt Museum. This unique commemorative quilt will be on display at the Tsongas Industrial History Center from fall 2011 through spring 2012.
